There is a huge puddle in our THURSDAYS parking lot. Last week I noticed a cute mom holding her baby in the breezy Idaho weather watching her little 3 year old throw rock after rock into this huge puddle. Her little boy was having a blast. I though to myself,"I need to be one of those moms." Many times my boys have wanted to throw rocks into that puddle and I always come up with a million excuses..."no no its too cold" "come on we are in a hurry" and of course "any second a car is going to come and smash us like a bug!" When I got home from work that afternoon my boys needed an afternoon snack and asked for chocolate milk and like a good mom, I obliged. In a few seconds they had their cups, selected straws, and were slurping down their milk. Then Coley started to blow big messy milk bubbles...
Before I could even start my rantings on manners and upcoming punishments, Xavier was in fits of laughter and started joining the fun. Then I thought, "Here it is. Here is my chance to be one of those moms." So instead of lecturing, I pulled out my camera.
Now I am one of those moms who clean up unnecessary chocolate puddles on the kitchen table and who also have to try to re-teach good manners. I should have let them throw those darn rocks.

This post made my day! And I LOVE the boys' faces - what a memory you captured. Thanks for reminding me to be better!
Haha!!! This is why I miss you guys!
I can totally relate to that. I'm ALWAYS saying "DON'T jump in those puddles in your church clothes!!!", etc. and I do not like to give my kids straws because they play with them and that makes messes that I hate cleaning up. I'm not one of "those" moms, but I will try to be better. :)
So CUTE!! You are an awesome mom!! I love the pictures, SOOOO FUN.
I am rarely one of those moms as well. I fear being one of those moms. But look how cute and grown up your boys are!
Such a cute post...you are a great mom and your boys are so cute.
My boys just discovered this milk trick and it is in full force over here. I allow it not because I'm that mom, but because it's has always started before I can stop it. Then I just tell them to go outside with it.
Very funny! I don't let my little lady blow bubbles (okay, sometimes she does, just for a little bit) because next thing I know, chunks of food are in her drink and it is so gross!
Otherwise, rain boots are a great investment. Then they can jump in the puddles too. It is a good thing for little boys to do.
You have the most handsome boys Angie and at some point you are going to have to start answering your phone to talk to me because I am moving to Arizona where I will be completely at a lost with all the extra time on my hands. I love you and your family so much. Rach
You are such a good mommy! I can totally relate too. I feel like I always say no or stop, etc. Thanks for this post to make me think. My mom said Sister Hinckley said in a talk once to say yes whenever you can. I need to work on this! Love ya!
